Who is the certificate 3 in carpentry course for?
If you want a career that can provide highly transferable skills, Certificate 3 in Carpentry might be the perfect first step. The course is suitable for individuals looking to commence or further their skills as a carpenter. It’s open to new and existing workers who are currently employed in a relevant position and wanting to work toward completing the qualification. This course may lead to employment within a number of positions, including:
- Registered builder
- Building inspector
- Leading hand
- Foreman/sub-foreman
- Project manager
What are the entry requirements for Cert 3 Carpentry?
There are no educational entry requirements for this qualification, however, all students must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying. Students must have a sense of balance and the ability to cope with the physical demands of the training and assessment that involves manual labour, working at heights, heavy lifting and operation of tools (both manual and power tools).
At enrolment, all candidates for assessment will be offered RPL – recognition of prior learning. RPL is an assessment process that explores an individual’s non-formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which they’ve achieved the required learning and competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial completion of, a qualification.

Certification 3 in Carpentry
To successfully complete the Cert 3 Carpentry course and achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 30 units which comprise:
- Twenty-two core units
- Eight elective units
Course assessment includes a mixture of practical tutorials, project work and written tests. Assessment is a necessary part of this program, to show that you have achieved the skills and knowledge outlined in the competency standards. You’ll be informed in advance about the assessment procedure and criteria. Please note that Pro Training Australia is not a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
